01What’s happening
FolderFort is closing its Classic service on 16 November 2026 and moving customers to a new subscription. That includes accounts bought as lifetime plans. Whatever you decide about the new service, make sure you have your own copy of your files before the deadline.
Check FolderFort’s own announcements for the exact date and terms on your account — they’re the final word on what happens to Classic.
02How long it takes
Copying out of Classic is limited by FolderFort’s connection, not yours. At around 5 MB/s you can move roughly 400 GB a day, so:
- 100 GB — a few hours
- 500 GB — a day or two
- 2 TB — about five days of continuous copying
If you have more than a terabyte, start now so a failed night doesn’t push you past 16 November.
03Option 1: copy everything with rclone (best for large libraries)
FolderFort’s FF Connect gives Classic accounts WebDAV access. Your username is your FolderFort email and your password is a FolderFort API token — FolderFort’s FF Connect page explains how to make one. The harbor0 desktop app runs a local WebDAV drive, so rclone can copy straight from one to the other.
Turn on Local WebDAV server in the harbor0 desktop app’s Settings, then add both as rclone remotes. Use your FolderFort region (na, na2, eu…) in the address, and the username and password the harbor0 app shows:
rclone config create folderfort webdav vendor=other \
url=https://connect.na.folderfort.com/ \
user=you@example.com pass=$(rclone obscure 'YOUR-FOLDERFORT-TOKEN')
rclone config create harbor0 webdav vendor=other \
url=http://127.0.0.1:6810/harbor0/ \
user=USERNAME-FROM-APP pass=$(rclone obscure 'PASSWORD-FROM-APP')Then copy. FolderFort allows only one or two connections at a time, so keep transfers low. If the copy stops, run the same command again — rclone skips files that are already there.
rclone copy folderfort: harbor0:FolderFort --transfers 2 --progressLeave the computer awake and the harbor0 app running. Uploads to harbor0 carry on in the background and show in the app until they land.
04Option 2: download and upload (fine for smaller accounts)
Under a few hundred gigabytes, the simplest route works: download your folders from the FolderFort website, then upload them to harbor0.
- Download each top-level folder from FolderFort. Folders arrive as .zip files.
- Unzip them on your computer and check the files open.
- Drag the folders into harbor0 on the web, or put them in a sync or backup folder in the desktop app, which resumes if your connection drops.
05Check before you leave
When the copy finishes, compare sizes: rclone size folderfort: and rclone size harbor0:FolderFort should match. Open a few photos and documents from each top-level folder. Only then let your Classic account go.
06Why harbor0
We don’t sell lifetime plans, so there’s no deal to take back later — you pay monthly or yearly for the storage you use, from $2.49 a month for 200 GB to 5 TB, and every account gets 10 GB free. Turn on end-to-end encryption and we can’t read your files at all.
And if you ever leave us, everything downloads as it went in: plain files and folders, over the web, the desktop apps, WebDAV or rclone.
